Acne Skincare
The first thing you should never do to your face is use very hot water, harsh cleansers or soaps. These will only irritate your current acne condition and not improve it.
Using a mild and gentle cleanser is one of the most important steps in any acne skin care program. You should deep cleanse your face and pores at least twice a day, once in the morning upon rising and the other at night before retiring to bed. This will remove any surface impurities, bacteria and oil.
After cleansing you can try some of these home remedies below to speed up the healing of your skin and to reduce the severity of your acne.
Lemon Juice
After washing and rinsing your face thoroughly, squeeze the juice of one fresh lemon into a bowl and by using a cotton wool ball gently apply the lemon juice to the infected areas. Let the cotton ball soak up some more juice and repeat the process. Let the lemon juice dry and remain on your face for roughly 10 minutes and then rinse with cold or lukewarm water.
Don't worry if you experience a mild stinging sensation, this is totally normal. If you have sensitive skin, you may want to add a little water to the lemon juice to dilute it. Try using this remedy once a day and you should notice an improvement within one to two weeks.
Lemon juice will give your pores a deep clean and there are chemicals in the lemon juice called Alpha Hydroxy Acids that help remove dead skin cells and promote new health, elastic skin. It is one of natures best natural cleansers.
Herbs
There are some wonderful herbs that you can begin adding to your diet that can help balance hormones. This is especially useful for teens who have acne due to puberty. You should not expect to see any results overnight but give them at least a month of consistent usage before examining the effectiveness of them.
Males should use Saw Palmetto Berry Extract and females should use Chaste Tree Berry Extract. You can buy these herbs as ready made supplements from your local health food store.
Another wonderful herb that helps to boost your immune-system is echinacea. Echinacea will help fight the acne-causing bacteria in your skin. You can now commonly find Vitamin C supplements that contain echinacea.
Blackheads
A simple home remedy to cleanse and loosen blackheads is to make a paste from 1 egg white, 2 tablespoons of honey and about half a cup of oatmeal. The mixture should have a paste consistency so add a little water if it is too dry.
Apply this mixture to your face and massage gently for around 5-10 minutes and rinse off. This mixture will also help clean away dead skin cells.
